Stay in These Luxe Ski Lodges in Utah This Snowy Season

Three new and upcoming properties offer a mix of unprecedented access to new—and snowboard-less—terrain, an underrated resort, and a ranch long beloved by serious outdoorsman. From a heated outdoor pool overlooking the slopes to heliskiing expeditions, there’s no shortage of après-ski luxury amenities on hand, too.
The Lodge at Blue Sky
Frequent visitors to Park City will have heard of Blue Sky Utah, a ranch in the Wasatch Mountains that has long been an adventurer’s playground, with everything from a sporting clays course and an equestrian program to an award-winning whiskey distillery, not to mention world-class skiing. With the opening of the Lodge in May, guests will have their pick of 46 contemporary rooms, as well as access to the Auberge Spa; a ski-in, ski-out lounge; and heli-skiing expeditions thanks to a new partnership with CloudVeil. Compass Rose Lodge
Despite having more skiable area than any other resort in the country, Powder Mountain has always been overshadowed by nearby Park City. A lack of snowmaking capabilities and dated infrastructure hasn’t helped, though it does mean fewer crowds and excellent backcountry terrain. Now, the new Compass Rose Lodge, located in the Old West town of Ogden, allows skiers to take advantage of the forecasts with 15 minimalists, farmhouse-style rooms. One unique amenity is the high-tech observatory that will act as a space research center for scientists and a perfect nighttime activity for guests. Rooms from $209.
Snowpine Lodge
At a time when most ski resorts are falling under corporate umbrellas, Alta, near Salt Lake City, remains independently owned. It’s also one of the few resorts that ban snowboards, which has long pleased serious skiers. The debut of Snowpine Lodge this January marks the town’s first luxury resort and coincides with the launch of an adjacent lift, making it the only ski-in, ski-out lodge in the area. Don’t let the timber-clad exterior fool you; the 59-room property comes stacked with amenities like a slopeside heated pool, a full spa, an oxygen bar, and a movie theater. Rooms from $129.
